The Need: "Passionate Customer Advocacy" Goes Wireless

Richard Vague recognized that in order for Juniper to emerge as a leader in the booming online banking market, it would have to clearly distinguish itself from the host of other financial services providers by offering its customers unparalleled flexibility and access to a comprehensive suite of banking services. He also saw an opportunity to differentiate Juniperís comprehensive offerings from the commercial banks, which he felt lacked the necessary focus and commitment to reinvest in technologies that accommodate the banking needs of todayís customers.

Juniper began evaluating wireless technology vendors in an effort to accommodate an increasingly mobile customer base. Aetherís well-known reputation for speed-to-market delivery of wireless offerings, in addition to the unsurpassed capabilities of its wireless software, made it the clear choice to fulfill Juniperís immediate need for a wireless banking infrastructure.

The Solution: Banking Without a Net

The result of the partnership between Juniper and Aether was the development of a wireless, browser-based, custom application designed to support Juniperís banking services. This application will enable Juniper customers to use their handheld wireless devices to access account balances, move money between accounts, pay bills, and communicate with customer support. The device-independent capabilities afforded by Aether have allowed Juniper to develop a wireless banking solution that is accessible to its customers through a variety of platforms. Targeted initially are web-enabled phones and Palm OS-based handheld computers followed by RIM e-mail devices.

Juniper has also proactively addressed the security issues involved in wireless banking by routing its customersí wireless transactions through the Aether Network Operations Center, which then forwards the transactions to Juniper through a safe and secure, state-of-the-art encrypted connection. In this way, Juniper customers can enjoy seamless, end-to-end protection for all their wireless transactions.
