David Oros
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Aether Systems, Inc.

David Oros' vision, since founding Aether in 1996, has been to develop and provide wireless data services that put the power of the PC in the palm of users' hands — while giving them maximum choice among handheld devices and wireless networks.

In February of 1997 Mr. Oros launched Aether's first product, AirBroker™, the first voice and data cellular phone that delivered real-time stock market information. This was followed by the March 1998 release of MarketClip™ in partnership with Reuters. Using the popular Palm Computing and Windows CE handheld device platforms, MarketClip delivers real-time U.S. equities and options information, full news stories, alerts, market summaries and more. Mr. Oros leveraged the success of those products, and the investment support he received from the likes of 3Com and Reuters, to build Aether's full-service Enterprise Data Wireless Center, featuring world-class engineering, a network operations center and high-level customer support for corporate clients.

By late 1999 Aether had been signed to create wireless data systems for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Online, Charles Schwab & Co., Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch and National Discount Brokers. Also in 1999 Oros co-founded OmniSky, Inc., a wireless Internet Services Provider in which Aether holds a 33-percent stake (Oros also serves on the OmniSky board). On October 20 Aether held its initial public stock offering, raising $110 million in what was one of the year's most successful IPOs.

Prior to Aether, Mr. Oros was president of the Wireless Data Group for Westinghouse Electric, where he directed internal research and managed large programs in advanced airborne radar design and development.

Mr. Oros earned bachelor of science degrees in mathematics and physics from the University of Maryland and holds a United States patent for the multi-function radar system.
